Opportunity
Founded in 2011 and Bath-based, our client is a market leader in innovative software solutions for the retail industry. Producing software purpose-built for the edge, they enable retailers to facilitate their digital transformation by optimising their existing store technology with a radically reduced cost to serve. With a track record for anticipating technological paradigm shifts and leveraging them to deliver innovative, game-changing business software, they were bought by a global software and services-led enterprise in 2019.
With the promise of extensive investment, the company set its sights on expansion to bolster its ranks with high-quality technical staff. However, they soon needed help finding developers and engineers who were Bath-based, possessed scarce Linux or Python skills and could demonstrate the high level of quality that the company demands of its staff.
Solution
Working in partnership with our client, we employed an engaged, two-way recruitment method by taking the time to comprehend their exacting requirements for candidates professionally and culturally fully.
With an enormous database of active and passive candidates carefully built up over two decades and by liaising with the Engineering Hiring Manager throughout the process, we could guarantee that the developers and engineers coming into the interview hit all their expectations.
After two notable job hires, where we outperformed existing recruiters, we quickly capitalised on this success by being recommended to the VP of Engineering who was looking to expand his team. We did this by kicking off a graduate/junior developer recruitment drive in mid-2020 – a significant recruitment project in a changing recruitment market.
Results
Incorporating such a significant amount of people into a new company in one go is a major undertaking, where numerous factors must be considered to ensure an effective overall hiring process. Thankfully, we have significant experience recruiting fully formed teams rather than just single hires. We regularly utilise these team-building recruitment capabilities in our standard recruiting procedure with excellent results.
Thanks to our client’s smooth onboarding procedure, six Python Developers were quickly an integral part of their operations. They soon contributed to the company’s continued success in retail industry software.
Throughout late 2020 and 2021, RedRock firmly established itself as a preferred supplier of our client and successfully hired two further graduates and a Principal for the Engineering department, as well as one Senior Shift/Ops Engineer and four Service Desk Engineers for the Operations department.
With our client going from strength to strength, we continue working with them to help the next stage in their growth as they expand beyond retail and into other sectors.
